Proverbs 18:21 Animation

During the Covid Pandemic shutdown I was sparked by a thought to begin reading the bible. However, instead of reading the whole bible, I decided to read certain scriptures and use my motion design skills to interpret those scriptures according to my understanding. I re-searched online to see if anyone else had animated bible scriptures online, and did not find any interesting animated bible scriptures. I decided to start a personal project where I created animations of scriptures. I experiment with different styles, stories, visual metaphors, and typography, in order to tell a story using my understanding of the message in the scripture.

Life and Death are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it, will eat its fruits.

Proverbs 18:21

CONCEPT:

My understanding of the scripture was framed around the ideas of death and life. When I think of death, I think of life negating objects, surroundings, and even sound. As such, I created very dark frames for the opening of the animation to symbolize this feeling of death. The dark black lines crawling and revealing themselves, resemble withered vines that are attaching themselves to everything they touch and suffocating such objects with death. This is shown in the first three frames. Life is symbolized as light; an energy that brings out the best in all who use their light for good. It infuses us with an energy that is everlasting and is symbolized as the light defeats the darkness, repelling out the withered vines as the light energy grows. Life also symbolizes the words we choose to use as verbal expressions in our lives. This symbolizes life or death for human beings because our words turn into our beliefs, our beliefs turn into our actions, and our actions become real.
