Black History Month - Peloton 2022

Every year in Feburary, Peloton celebrates it's team members and members during Black History Month. It’s a month filled with celebratory moments, classes and artists series that represent Black culture, apparel drops, and
much more.

The theme for Black History Month 2022, “The Energy That Moves Us,” represents the continual forward movement of the Black Community individually and collectively. They create the culture that we see in society today. This movement is energetic and the energy will continue to move in everything they do.

The Visual Concept was inspired from classic black media and culture, to create a colorful, graphic collage approach that has cut out images layered on top of one another. The animation direction to bring these visual elements to life was influenced by 2D stop motion. The idea was to use 2D stop motion to create a jerky, organic movement that paired well with the collage layered approach and organic shapes. We believed this animation style would pair well because not only would it would create an organic and a jerky hard cut movement to pair with the organic elements surrounding the image as well as represent the hard cut images that made up the collage, but it also gave a nostalgic feel to represent a historical context of the past.
